After training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, world dance and ballroom in
the San Francisco Bay Area and in Europe, and performing with Bay Area
dance groups Shipp Dance Theater and Jewels of the Oasis, Rick began his
first dance company in 2001. He currently teaches modern, world, and
musical theater dance, while creating new dance works for Southern
California Dance Company, including new and re-worked sections of the
ongoing dance project
RQ 21, set to Mozart's Requiem.
Rick‘s choreography has been presented in venues including the Palace of
the Legion of Honor, San Francisco; the Los Angeles Convention Center;
the Centre des Conventions, Paris Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas; San Jose
State University; the Hollywood Bowl; the Silja Europa in Finland; Benn
Hall in Rugby, England; and in Kentucky, Massachusetts, Alabama, Utah,
Colorado and New Mexico.
In the past two years Rick has been commissioned to choreograph
The
Music Man
, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, A Christmas Carol, The Jungle
Book
, and Alladin, for Southeast Civic Light Opera and the Theater
Guild. In January 2008, 8 evening length performances of his
contemporary ballet and modern jazz dance works were presented at
Unknown Theater in Hollywood. In March 2008 he choreographed a new solo
for a former New York City Ballet dancer,  performed at DanceSpot in Los
Angeles. Rick choreographed for the
2008 Easter Sunrise Service at the
Hollywood Bowl and in April 2008, several of his dances were featured in
Tujunga Cabaret, including contemporary ballet, modern jazz and musical
theater works. Rick has taught dance workshops and master classes
throughout California and teaches weekly classes in Hollywood and North
Hollywood.
Currently, Rick teaches throughout Southern California and is continuing
to create new concert dance works for Southern California Dance Company.
Rick is committed to continuing work with promising young dancers and
incorporating their talent and energy in concert dance and musical
theater performances.
