| Southern California Dance Company Repertoire of Works (all choreography by Artistic Director Rick Heiman unless otherwise noted) Forever Child (6 min.): Contemporary dance about mythical children, victims of some long ago catastrophe, playing children's games; set to Aria by the Medieval Baebes. Ghost Frog (6 min): Modern jazz dance about anomie and chance acquaintance, set to music by contemporary Parisian composer Pascal Vaucel (“Phasme”). Tunic: Modern dance inspired by Karen Carpenter's battle with anorexia, set to the song by Sonic Youth. Queeniana (12 min, in sections of 3, 4, and 5 min): A mini-tribute to the rock band Queen, music by Freddie Mercury and friends. RQ 21 (18-19 min, in sections of 2, 3.5, 5, 5, and 3 minutes): Modern dance, set to Mozart's Requiem, about what it means to be mortal...and immortal. Strange Visit (6 min): A child, a book of fairy tales, and fairies come to life, set to Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. Variazioni: (work in progress, 9 min): Off balance contemporary dance, loosely based on the mythological content of a contemporary poem called “Lisardggy” and set to “Variazioni di una tema di Schumann” by contemporary Roman composer Mario Berlinguer.
